Rev. P.H.P. (“Percy”) Gutteridge

A short biography of Percy Gutteridge's life is still to be written by a Gutteridge family member.  We hope it will be posted here sometime in the near future.  Meanwhile, we are well along in posting the chapters of Pastor Gutteridge's book Faith Is Substance on the site.  (The title of the book derives from Hebrews 11:1 kjv.)

Until the biography arrives, I will just substitute my personal note and say that Percy was my “grandfather in the Lord,” a spiritual mentor, and one of the wisest men I have ever known.  It was such a blessing to sit under his ministry that we thought nothing of driving 150 miles to hear him speak.  An even greater blessing was to have him as a guest in our home (or in the homes of nearby church members) when he would come to minister at each of the churches I pastored in California.

In two-and-a-half decades of sitting under his ministry, seeking his counsel and advice (first as a young Christian and then as a young minister), and fellowshipping with him as a friend and brother in the Lord, I can say this with assurance—as with Samuel, God “let none of his words fall to the ground.” (1 Samuel 3:19)  It is a blessing and privilege to be presenting some of his Bible teaching and writings to a new generation.  As his ministry goes forth on the Web, may it be said of Pastor Gutteridge as it was of Abel in the Bible's “Faith Chapter,” “He being dead yet speaketh.” (Hebrews 11:4)
